250 hours of world-class period drama acquired - making Epic Drama the exclusive home of hit series such as Harlots, Poldark and Mr Selfridge in key international markets
LONDON, 6 December 2017 – Viasat World, a leading international media company, today announces a landmark content agreement with ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE), securing 250 hours of world-class period drama content which will have first run exclusivity in many markets for its brand new flagship content brand Epic Drama.
The deal – Viasat World’s biggest to date with ITVS GE – will see the independent broadcaster’s new drama-based channel and SVOD propositions become the new home to some of the greatest period drama series of all time. Epic Drama will premiere in key markets, internationally, from 14 December, with coveted launch titles including; Harlots, Mr Selfridge and Poldark.
With ITVS GE already established as a key content distribution partner, supplying many of Viasat World’s top rating shows across its factual channel portfolio, the deal builds on this successful relationship as the company launches its brand new lavish drama offering.

Harlots S1-2: Featuring an award-winning creative team and all-star cast, this powerful drama is set against the vibrant, cosmopolitan backdrop of 18th century Georgian London, offering a bold new take on the city’s most valuable commercial activity – sex.
Mr Selfridge S1-4: This epic series begins in London in 1908 and follows a colourful cast of characters whose lives and fortunes are entangled with Harry Gordon Selfridge, the founder of Selfridges department store.
Poldark S1-2: Adapted from Winston Graham's novels, this brooding drama is set in 18th-century Cornwall and follows Ross Poldark who is passionate about turning around the fortunes of his late father's estate.
Beowolf – Return To The Shieldlands: Re-imagining one of literature’s most enduring heroes and featuring an ensemble cast of fascinating characters, this epic drama follows Beowulf as he strives to be a man and a hero whilst defending those he loves from an increasingly hostile world.
Endeavour S1-5: This detective drama series is a prequel to the long-running Inspector Morse series, set primarily in Oxford, England. Shaun Evans portrays a young Endeavour Morse beginning his career as a Detective Constable with the Oxford City Police CID.
Lightfields: It’s 1944 and a young evacuee joins the Felwood family at Lightfields Farm to help the war effort. Tainted by tragedy the house is abandoned and its history fades from memory. Through the years, all who live at Lightfields are affected by the sadness of the mysterious spirit. Questions remain unanswered, truths stay concealed and justice is not served, until the day the Felwood family returns.
Murdoch Mysteries S1-3: Methodical and dashing detective William Murdoch pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve Toronto’s most gruesome murders at the dawn of the 20th century. Murdoch and his team push the boundaries of science as they solve the unsolvable, referencing key issues of the time and weaving real-life historical figures into each investigation.
The Line (Un Village Francais) S1-6: Set in a French village during the Second World War, follow characters confronted with daily dilemmas of collaboration, resistance and survival. Each season of the series is a year deeper into the war which intensifies, and characters are pushed closer to the edge.
