Viasat World Launches 'Viasat True Crime' Channel In Czechia, Slovakia And Slovenia

LONDON – 5 September 2024:  Viasat World, leading independent international media company, today announces the launch of its new crime-themed television channel, Viasat True Crime, in Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia on 17 September 2024.

Following the highly successful launch of Viasat True Crime in Poland with Canal+ earlier this year, Viasat World has partnered with operator partners, Vodafone in Czechia, where the new channel will be included together with Epic Drama in the Family and AllinOne packages, as well as T-Mobile Czech Republic who will include the new channel in the MAGENTA TV L and XL packages. In Slovakia, Slovak Telekom will include Viasat True Crime in the Magio TV,  Voľný čas package together with Epic Drama, and Swan, a.s.  In Slovenia,  T-2 Slovenia will include Viasat True Crime in the extended basic tier package – all operators will launch the new channel on 17th September.  In Croatia, Viasat True Crime will soon launch on Croatian Telecom's TV platforms.

In Poland, Viasat True Crime now reaches 6 million subscribers with Canal+, CDA, Orange, Play and UPC.  In the first two and a half months after its launch, 2.3 million people have tuned in, with over 100,000 viewers watching daily. On average the target audience (age 16 to 59) are watching for an average of 48 minutes each day*.

Viasat True Crime focuses exclusively on true crime programming, including marquee documentaries of shocking real-life cases, chilling true crime drama series, and gripping crime-fighting reality shows.   Expert curation is a signature feature of this unique channel, made richer by telling stories across multiple content genres, providing viewers with a distinctive breadth of programming. Viasat World has furthermore secured the SVOD and FAST rights for much of its content.

Viasat True Crime is dedicated to lifting the tape and getting behind the stories of the world’s most shocking crimes. With access to leading experts, dramatic footage, prosecutors, investigators, witnesses, criminals and victims, viewers will be able to follow each investigation to its conclusion.

Viasat True Crime content includes dramatic crime-in-action shows featuring real-life crime-fighters and lawmakers as they work to put criminals behind bars.  From police officers, court officials, prison guards and customs officers, viewers follow these teams every step of the way.

Uniquely, Viasat True Crime also features premium true crime drama - including award-winning films and series featuring internationally renowned casts - which tell the stories of some of the most notorious and unsettling crimes of our age.

From launch, Viasat True Crime will include documentaries on front-page cases including: The Moors Murders (Abacus Media Rights), BTK: Confessions of a Serial Killer (A&E Networks),The Rapist’s Journal (Viaplay), Soham Catching A Killer (ITV Studios), The Clown and the Candyman (Cineflix Rights) and The Real Serpent: Investigating a Serial Killer (Abacus Media Rights); true crime series including Murder Uncut and Killer Cases (from Cineflix Rights); reality crime-fighting shows, such as, Prison Down Under (Fred Media); alongside critically acclaimed drama productions based on true events including; The Hunt For A Killer andThe Sixth Commandement (from Banijay Rights) .
